The Pool is Open!

The news you have been waiting for! We are incredibly excited to announce that our neighborhood pool will opened for the summer season on Saturday, May 29th, 2021 without restrictions. Whoop!

Governor Northam’s Executive Order 72 expired at midnight on May 28, 2021. The new Executive Order 79, dated May 14, 2021, announced several major changes to Virginia’s COVID-19 policy, including elimination of almost all other COVID-19-related facility restrictions effective at midnight on May 28.

At the time of this email, there are no sector-specific “Forward Virginia” guidelines.  Rest assured, your ANA Board will closely monitor updates and adjust our obligations, should the need arise. We will be swift in our decisions, actions, and neighborhood communication. We also request your understanding should we need to adjust course.

You musthave a key fob for pool entry and may obtain one by completing an Assumption of Risk Form and Agreement found here: https://ashcroftneighbor.com/resources/. Then, contact Ryan Miller (property manager), at [email protected]

Pool updates and reminders:

  • Residents may ask the lifeguard to install the NEW lane line for lap swimming.
  • We kindly encourage the use of hand sanitizer each time you enter the pool area.
  • Please do not move pool furniture. Please, just don’t do it.
  • We kindly encourage the use of the provided disinfectant spray to wipe down pool furniture before leaving.
  • If you, or any family member or guest, are not vaccinated (or partially vaccinated) we kindly encourage you/them to wear a mask poolside.

Those using the pool and other common areas are also encouraged to follow current COVID-19 guidelines.  The latest guidelines can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/communication/guidance.html and https://www.virginia.gov/coronavirus/. “

Additional guidelines and notes:

  • Pool hours are 10:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.
  • We encourage families to observe social distancing with those outside their households.
  • No swimming (including lap) allowed outside of open hours.
  • Pool toys, food, and beverages (no glass containers) will be allowed.

Issues or feedback should be directed to [email protected] and not the lifeguard on duty.

We acknowledge with gratitude that Denise Bachman has agreed to chair the Pool Committee again this year. She and Pool Committee members Ashley Doherty and Halsey Blake-Scott will monitor pool conditions and look for ways to enhance the experience. For example, you will notice new umbrellas and furniture this year thanks to the committee’s suggestions.

Additionally, we have plans for a new fence surrounding the pool with installation set to begin after Labor Day. The Junipers located on the far side of the pool (closest to the field) are also scheduled for removal.

Notes about the pool itself: The mechanical issues have been addressed, missing tile replaced, new underwater lights installed, and acid wash complete. Glory be!

We wish you all a safe and happy summer 2021.

Swimmingly,

Amy Harper
